Key SGB Facts You Should Know
8-Year Tenure
SGBs have a fixed maturity of 8 years. Early exit is allowed after the 5th year on coupon payment dates.
2.5% Annual Interest
Interest is paid semi-annually directly to your bank account. This is in addition to any gold price appreciation.
Tax-Free Capital Gains
If held to 8-year maturity, capital gains are completely exempt from income tax — a major advantage over physical gold.
RBI Issued
SGBs are issued by the Reserve Bank of India on behalf of the Government. Zero credit risk — backed by the Government of India.
